About me

I’m Emily Conolan, the counsellor with a caravan. I have a Masters in Counselling from Monash Uni, and am trained in Internal Family Systems, an amazing modality of therapy that helps people to find self-compassion and make lasting changes. I also use creative modalities such as sandplay, psychodrama, journalling and art therapy.

I am a published author of three novels for 8-14 year olds (The Freedom Finders series, Allen & Unwin), and I’ve worked a lot in community activism, education, and the arts. I’m happiest when combining healing, social justice, and creativity.

The caravan

My caravan is named Frida (after the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo). She’s a 1970s original with some new additions like a lovely big skylight that helps her feel sunny and spacious. I bought and decorated Frida in a Mexican style after travelling to Mexico in 2022.

I find that people feel instantly at home in Frida - she’s a space that invites creativity, confidences, and cups of tea. I think that’s more welcoming than a sterile office, and I wanted to create a space that feels like a cocoon outside of the ordinary world. Frida is a place to look forward to and be delighted by, no matter your age. I also offer online sessions to clients anywhere in Australia or the world.

Is therapy for me?

Short answer - yes! I think therapy is for everyone. A therapist can help you to access your own inner resources, to unburden and transform. I also think therapy should be affordable for everyone, which is why I offer free intro sessions and a small number of equity places for clients from refugee backgrounds. I have worked with clients of many different ages for many different reasons.

But don’t just take my word for it! Come and meet Frida the caravan and me, in person or over zoom, for a free twenty minute intro session! You can do that via my ‘Contact’ page, or if you’re ready to book a session now, use the ‘Book Now’ button at the top right of screen.
